David Freeze – President
David has been running for 35 years, totaling 77,000 miles and 24 marathons. He coaches runners at www.Ulearn2run.com and teaches various classes in fitness and running. David has been the SRR President for 15 years and is also the current Winter Flight 8K race director. David has two daughters, Ashley and Amber, and owns a small farm. He has ridden his bicycle across America, from Maine to Key West; from Alabama to Canada; and from Santa Monica to Chicago along Route 66. David has authored three books on those cycling adventures.
Steve Clark – Vice President
Steve Clark has been a member of Salisbury Rowan Runners since he took over the Greenway 5k Race 16 years ago. He works for the City of Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department. He is married to Laura Zimmerman-Clark and they have 2 sons – Blake and Bennett. Steve enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports with his sons, exercising, traveling and on occasion playing golf. One of his running highlights is doing the Disney Marathon in 2011 when it was 28 degrees at the start of the race. That race is when he discovered what a banana was and that during the marathon it tasted like a steak!!
Luanne Fesperman – Treasurer
Luann has enjoyed running for years, starting in Junior High School where she participated in track and other sports. She and her husband, Gary graduated from East Rowan High School and Appalachian State University. They have two children and two grandchildren. In her free time, Luann enjoys time with family, traveling, kayaking, hiking, and golf. As for work, Luann owns and operates the Trophy House of Salisbury.
Teri Shaw – Membership Director
Teri is the SRR membership director. Teri is new to running and looks forward to making it a lifelong hobby. A graduate of West Rowan High School and Catawba College, she works for the City of Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department as a facility coordinator. She enjoys planning and programming activities and camps for the community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Patrick Smith – Member at Large
Patrick Smith has been a member of the Salisbury Rowan Runners for 10 years and has been a runner for 16. He has worked for the Salisbury Police Department since 2005 and is the Race Director for the department’s Annual Foot Pursuit 5K. Patrick organizes the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Salisbury Police Department in which proceeds raised benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina. Patrick and his wife Venise have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Patrick enjoys running, talking about running, reading about running and anything that has to do with running.
Amanda Lewis – Technology Coordinator
Amanda began running in 2016 and considers herself a non-competitive runner. A native of Ellenboro, NC, she moved to Rowan County after graduating from UNC-Charlotte. She and her husband Chad have two kids, Clayton and Gracie. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys volunteering, reading, photography, baking / cake decorating, and watching gymnastics and disc golf. You can usually find her at the finish line of local races as she currently handles race results and online posting for Salisbury Rowan Runners as well as RunSignUp and Salisbury Rowan Runner’s website.
