- SRR lost a long-time member and dear friend on September 1, 2002 when J. R. Ewing passed away at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after an illness of several weeks. While not a runner, JR loved SRR and maintained membership for more than 17 years. He was a loyal volunteer at most of the smaller SRR races and always at our annual Winter Flight 8K.
