SRR Board Meeting Minutes
June 9, 2026
Welcome—David Freeze called the meeting to order and welcomed members at 5:45p.m.
Board Members present – David Freeze, Steve Clark, Luann Fesperman, Amanda Lewis, Teresa Shaw, Lynn Furr, Morgan Huffman, Connie Hoffner.
Treasurer’s Report— Luann Fesperman reported the total in the account is $30,290.76 as of the end of May. The income was $3,408.40 and the expenses were $4,545.78.
Luann asked a question about the Special Olympics donation of $600 which was listed on line item 9100 which is Novant Health distribution line. The amount is to be moved to line item 6090 which is the line item for donations. Luann also asked about the Ed Dupree Novant sponsorship donation of $250. It was listed in line item 6185 and will be moved to line item 9100 which is Novant Health Distribution.
Bare Bones 5K payout was discussed. A suggestion was made to give $3,272 to Relay for Life. Luann Fesperman made a motion to give $3,272; Lynn Furr seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
Membership Report—Lynn Furr reported that there are 168 current members with 4 not current. Lynn stated that she had contacted the members who were not current.
Upcoming Races—David Freeze reported on the following:
Myles for the Mission 5k at Grace Lutheran Church-June 13 at 8 a.m. This race is to honor Myles Davis Pope who tragically drowned just before his 2nd birthday. Proceeds of this race will be used for water awareness and education. Scholarships will be provided for children to receive swimming training to be provided at YMCA.
Shiloh Mission Run 5K at Shiloh-June 27 at 8 a.m. Luann Fesperman the race director. Registration is in process.
Run for the Greenway-June 18 at 8a.m. Steve Clark is race director.
Prediction Run-August 29 at 8a.m. Amanda Lewis will be the race director.
New or changed fall races-
Liberty Community Church 5K at Liberty Community Church-October 3. Teresa Shaw will be the race director. David Freeze stated that he would go this week to the race site to check out the course.
Patterson Farms Pumpkin Smashing 5K-October 31. Race details are in the process with more details to come.
Rotary Fall Crawl 5K-October 17. Planning for this race is in process. This race is in conjunction with the Spencer race. This is a new location at Landis Ridge. David Freeze has checked out the site.
Races in Process-The following races were mentioned.
Race to the River-October 17. David Freeze will ask if this race is ready to be posted.
St. Matthew’s 5K-October 24.
Spooky Sprint 5K-October 25.
Other races-David Freeze discussed the potential that the town of Cleveland would like to offer a half marathon. This would be in conjunction with a festival to be held on October 31 in the town of Cleveland. David stated that for the club to be involved the race would need to be well planned. He stated that he would talk to the mayor of Cleveland concerning this matter.
Sisters in the Fight-David Freeze discussed that this race is in process of planning. The race director is still looking for a site and the race planning is slow to develop.
Dragonboat-Steve Clark reported that the Dragonboat Race will be on August 22. Steve Clark is coordinating the team. Steve stated that the entry fee is due.
The following are likely to participate in the Dragonboat event on August 22-Steve Clark, Morgan Huffman, Teresa Shaw, Luann Fesperman, Connie Hoffner, Scott Drye, Delando Clowney, Frank Miller, Megan McIntyre, Ashley Baker, Sam McDonald, Hannah McDonald, George Livengood. The team is still looking for a few more participants. Salisbury Rowan Runner members who are active can participant and are to contact Steve Clark.
Steve will be working on a date to practice at Hall Gym.
Garmin watches and bike computers-David Freeze reported that these are now available at Skinny Wheels.
New business
Run for the Word 5K-September 12. Lynn Furr said the brochures are ready for this race and she gave them out to board members.
No meeting in July
Next meeting-August 11 at 5:45p.m.
Adjourn-The meeting was adjourned by David Freeze at 6:30p.m.
