Welcome-David Freeze called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and welcomed

members.

Board Members Present-David Freeze, Steve Clark, Luann Fesperman, Amanda

Lewis, Teresa Shaw, Morgan Huffman, Connie Hoffner, Lynn Furr.

 

Treasurer’s Report-Luann Fesperman reported that the account balance was

$29,445.62 as of the end of August. Income was $3,961.30 and expenses were

$1670.17. Luann will explore why certain checks were shown as voided, particularly

some that were as old as 2022.

 

Membership Report-Lynn Furr reported that there were 185 members with 18 not

current. Beginner Running Class added nine new members.

 

Upcoming Races-

September 12th at 9 a.m.-Run for the Word 5K in Landis. Lynn Furr reported that all is

set to go. There are 125 signed up as of this date.

 

September 26th at Sisters in the Fight 5K at 845 a.m. at Overton Elementary School.

Luann Fesperman has contacted them about the medals and will contact them again.

 

Cross Country Meets-

September 17th —at Erwin. Lynn plus one to help,

September 22nd at Salisbury Academy at 4 p.m. Lynn Furr and Luann to assist.

September 24th at Erwin Middle School at 4:30 p.m. Lynn Furr and Luann to assist.

October 1st at China Grove Middle School. David, Steve, Luann. Lynn will divide both

races on this day.

Beginner Running Class– The Beginning Running Class began on Tuesday,

September 8 and will continue for an eight-week course. This class meets at Salisbury

Police Department. The class format begins with classroom instruction for

approximately 30 minutes then continues with a run that gradually increases in distance

from ½ mile to 3.1 miles. Matthew Weaver and Megan McIntyre led the run on opening

night.

 

Rowan Helping Ministries Walk Club-This class series will begin on September 14th at

Rowan Helping Ministries at 10. The class structure includes a 15-minute class

instruction followed by a walk around downtown Salisbury. The walk begins with 1 mile

the first week and will increase in distance weekly as long as participants can keep up.

Any SRR member can join in.

 

New Clocks and Air Horn-David reported that he had received two clocks and air

horns in a case of four.

 

Cross Country Payment Status-David reported that he has submitted payment

request for checks for the schools.

 

Board Member Consideration-David reported on suggestion for board member.

George Livengood has agreed and is interested in becoming a board member. David made

a motion to approve George as a board member beginning October 2026. Luann

Fesperman seconded the motion. After discussion the vote board approved this

unanimously. George has accepted.

 

Salisbury Rowan Runners Board Structure and Responsibilities-David announced

that Steve Clark will be President of Salisbury Rowan Runners as of the date of August

1, 2027.

 

David distributed copies of Salisbury Rowan Runners Board of Directors Organizational

Structure. He has reworked the existing form with input from each current board

member. Per Luann and Amanda, each board member should detail responsibilities

within the role. David continues as President. Luann Fesperman will continue with

duties as Treasurer, Connie Hoffner will continue with duties as Secretary, Vice

President remains as Steve Clark. The Committee Structure was included with the

following as responsible: Finance-Luann Fesperman, Membership-

Lynn Furr, Communication-Teresa Shaw, Race Coordinator-George Livengood, Shirts

and Bibs-Morgan Huffman, Beginning Runners Class-David Freeze and Amanda Lewis-

Website and Run Sign Up.

 

New Business-Luann Fesperman requested that all email communication come to the

following email address: luannf@carolina.rr.com and to discontinue use of the Trophy

House email address. David reported that all emails bounce back when using that

address, most importantly the ones with attachments. They will come up with a solution.
