SRR Board Minutes 2025

October 20, 2025

Board Members Present: David Freeze, Steve Clark, Luann Fesperman, Amanda Lewis, Teresa Shaw, Connie Hoffner. Not present: Lynn Furr.

Welcome: David welcomed members and called the meeting to order at 5:45p.

Treasurer’s Report: Luann reported the ending balance as of end of September 2025 is a total of $22,907.36.  Total September income was $1242.00 and total expenses were $4,796.30.

Membership Report: David reported that there are 185 current members. Lynn Furr is now the official membership director. Tisha Corriher has resigned from the board but will continue with some responsibilities.

Upcoming Races:

St. Matthews 5K-Saturday, October 25 at 9a, St. Matthews Lutheran Church.

Spooky Sprint 5K-Sunday, October 26 at 2p, Catawba College. Slight change in course this year.

Fill the Food Banks 5K-Saturday, November 1 at 10a, Cleveland Community Park.  Race in planning process with order of shirts, sponsors.  Plans are in the works to hold a half-marathon at this location next year.

Clean Water 5 K-Saturday, November 8:30a, Grace Lutheran Church. Always well managed by SRR’s Pam Roseman.

Girls on the Run 5K-Saturday, November 22 at 10a.  

Butterball 5K-Thursday, November 27 at 8:30a, The Forum. We need to secure enough help to provide four people on results table. Expecting 350 to 400 runners.

Freeze Your Buns 5K-December 6 at 1p, Spencer. This race kicks off Winterfest.

Santa Run 5K-December 13 at 9a, Ruritan building. This is an SRR race. All hands on deck.

Beginners Runners Class: David gave update on this class. The class has just completed.  The class started out with approximately a dozen but ended with 3 consistent participants. All ran well and hopefully will be active members.   

Rowan Helping Ministries Walk Club: Received donations of shoes from SRR members for the walk club. About 60 pairs of new and used shoes. Walking class in process and has one more week. We hope to have some of them at Santa Run.

Bibs: New bibs are in and being used. Going through the latest order fast.

High School Cross Country Checks:   Checks have been delivered to the schools. 

Winter Flight: David stated that board needs to get started on sponsors.  Amanda has sent out the spreadsheet with sponsors from this year’s race.  David advised board members to begin contacting the sponsors. The date, February 1^st, of Winter Flight and location of Catawba College is secured.  There was discussion about the price increase for Winter Flight race.  Luann suggested to increase race fee to $35. Everyone agreed to do this as costs are increasing.

Annual Meeting: Charlotte Corriher is keynote speaker of annual meeting.  David requested a photo and an update on her race history for WF brochure, so that we can get the brochure out

New Business:

Board Meeting Time Change–David suggested that board meeting be changed to 2^nd Monday of the month starting in December.
