SSR Board Meeting Minutes
SRR Board Meeting Minutes
David welcomed Jasen Weber, Amanda Lewis, Rebecca Parker Torterell and Tisha Corriher at 5:45pm at Family House in China Grove. Absent were Connie Hoffner, Steve Clark and Luann Fesperman.
David gave the treasurer’s report. The club has $20,992.04 in current assets. The August report was missing on income and expenses for the month, so we looked at year-to-date against budget. On the income side, we are $2,148,00 behind. On the expense side, we are over in expenses at $4,230.72. SRR is behind the budget at net ordinary income of $6,378.72. Amanda mentioned that this will balance out through the rest of the year. David said the busiest time for receipt of sponsorships is just ahead, which is a big factor.
Membership report- Tisha said we have six new members for a total of 194 current members, of which 29 are expired. Amanda mentioned that the list of expired is heavily influenced by those who paid for membership through the prediction runs, many of which are not from the area.
Race to the River—Saturday at Spencer Town Hall. A big event with kayak and bike events. Fast course to the new park at the Yadkin River.
Dolphin Dash—Oct. 14. A cross country course event at Sacred Heart.
St. Matthews 5K—Oct. 28. Still waiting on the race brochure. This is a solid race that is dragging this year for some reason.
Spooky Sprint—Oct. 29. Seems to be going good with a new race director. David is helping him.
Donuts for Dollars—Nov. 4. A new race at GNC that will use the Tinseltown parking lot and Bendix Drive for the course. Two loops. Proceeds go to Salisbury Police Foundation.
Trailer logo replacement. Luann got a quote from Harwood signs for $800 to put new logo decals on the trailer. We have to take off the old logos ourselves. Board approved the expenditure.
Winter Flight sponsors. All board members are required to seek sponsors and should start that process now. Earliest sponsors get the most exposure, both on the brochure and on the race website.
Constant contact, Lynn Furr, updating memberships, mailing lists. Etc. Lynn is quickly grasping all things constant contact. Amanda is going to set up a meeting addressing membership and procedures going forward to keep all information current and correct. Amanda, Lynn, Tisha and David will attend.
BRC Fall Class. Fall class began last week with 14 attending, of which six were new members.
Catawba College Winter Flight contract has been paid. This covers all facilities used by SRR for the race, cleaning fees and a responsible person available during the day. Race date is February 4th, 2024.
Runner Friendly Community Renewal has been processed but late. David and Steve pushed it through and we hope that it will still be approved for five more years. About 60 communities nationwide have received this designation. Steve’s boss at Parks and Rec is leaving and this didn’t get done.
New Business. The board approved giving GNC the Novant sponsorship of $250 even though it is a first race, not something we usually do. The race benefits the Salisbury Police Foundation.
David told the board that the PD is short by $500 to reach their record goal of $7,000 for supporting Special Olympics. The board decided to donate the needed $500.
The next meeting is October 11th. All board members should mark their schedules for this evening and make every effort to attend. October through February are our busiest months overall and everyone needs to be active and involved.
Meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm.
